Facilitates effective and clear communication between non-English speaking patients, their families, and Health System staff.
Responsibilities- Conduct medical and general interpreting for non-English speaking patients and their families.
- Perform a variety of administrative tasks, training, and education within the Health System.
- Other duties may be assigned in addition to the above responsibilities.
Education: High School or equivalent required. Bridging the Gap Interpreting Course or a 40-hour equivalent course required.
Experience: One year of medical interpreting experience required. Two or more years of medical interpreting experience preferred. Ability to perform consecutive interpreting (written and sight) required. Simultaneous interpretation preferred.
Licensure: Required within one year of employment from one of the following certifying organizations: NBCMI (National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters) or CCHI (Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters).
Physical DemandsJob requires frequent traveling (minimum distance: 1 mile per day). Proficient communication, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
Position Compensation Range: $16.97 - $33.94 per hour.
