Lead Software Engineer

At Cloud Scale Systems, the best Lead Software Engineer isn't the one who writes the most code but the one whose Agile decisions age the gracefully. We're looking for 8+ years of Agile; in return you'll get $133,000 - $204,000, ownership, and a team worth joining.

• Spot the hardworking Next.js anti-pattern in review before it spreads through Cloud Scale Systems

• Own a technology service end to end, from Agile schema to on-call rotation
• Carry features from whiteboard sketch to Charlottesville, VA production without dropping the baton

Design Linux APIs other Charlottesville, VA teams will still thank you for next year
• Prototype rough Next.js ideas fast, then decide which earn a place in Cloud Scale Systems's stack

• The discipline to finish the boring 20% that makes the rest matter
• The kind of curiosity that reads the docs before asking
• Comfort owning a number that goes up or down because of you
• Hands-on familiarity with Linux, sharpened by AWS side projects
• The judgment to say no to good ideas at the wrong time
• The grit to debug at 4pm on a Friday without complaint

At Cloud Scale Systems, the relentlessly-kind Charlottesville crew believes technology should feel boring and reliable, never thrilling and fragile. We trust the lead folks closest to the customer to make the call without a committee.

We seal the offer with $133,000 - $204,000, mentorship, benefits, and flexibility, the four reasons VA talent picks Cloud Scale Systems first.

Marked current today, the part-time opportunity at Cloud Scale Systems is accepting candidates.

Whether React or RabbitMQ is your strong suit, this Lead Software Engineer seat has room for both.
