Position SummaryThe Waterpark Manager-on-Duty (MOD) is responsible for ensuring safe, clean, and efficient club operations—both facility-wide and specifically within the indoor/outdoor aquatics areas. This role provides Five-Star service throughout the club while acting as the first responder to all incidents, emergencies, and operational issues. The position maintains constant presence and leadership on the pool deck, ensures proper lifeguard coverage and safety standards, and works in partnership with department teams to uphold all acac policies, expectations, and facility standards.
EssentialFunctions & Responsibilities
A. Safety, Emergency Response & Incident Management
- Carry walkie and MOD key ring at all times and respond immediately to all walkie calls.
- Act as first responder for all emergencies including: incidents/accidents, altercations, code calls, fire alarms, extreme weather, equipment breakdowns, power outages, etc.
- Take charge during emergencies and ensure situations are resolved quickly and appropriately.
- Properly complete incident reports and required documentation.
- Ensure the club and each department opens/closes on time daily with all required checklists completed.
- Conduct full waterpark facility walkthroughs approximately every 90 minutes to confirm cleanliness, safety, staffing coverage, HR/uniform compliance (including name badges), amenity stocking and organization, member experience, and policy enforcement.
- Submit repair/maintenance tickets in Happy Fox for issues discovered during walkthroughs.
- Ensure proper POS drawer readiness, starting banks are distributed as needed, and closing deposits/cash bags are handled properly.
- Closing shifts: submit MOD Report via email using the acac-provided template.
- Be present on and around the pool deck to ensure safe operations.
- Establish and manage stand/rotation schedules.
- Delegate and confirm completion of opening, mid-shift, and closing pool duties (chemical recording/checks, trash removal, bathroom cleaning, deck/furniture organization, lock-up responsibilities, and occasional maintenance support).
- Implement swim testing and assign wristbands based on pass/fail as required.
- Ensure pool areas can be safely separated and managed when multiple groups are using the facility (swim lessons, camps, teams, etc.).
- Respond immediately to pool-area conflicts (horseplay, bullying, fighting) and enforce safety rules consistently.
- Be trained across departments and assist with department coverage during breaks or call-outs when department leadership is not on duty.
- Support club tours for prospective members when Membership Team is unavailable; collect and forward prospect contact details.
- Help ensure proper staffing levels, including calling in additional support or sending team members home when overstaffed (when department leaders are not on duty).
- Deliver Five-Star service to members, guests, and team members at all times.
- Exhibit a consistently positive, professional, and solution-focused attitude.
- Establish strong working relationships with MOD team members and department heads.
- Promptly return messages and maintain dependable communication.
- Maintain club cleanliness as an all-team responsibility; assist in any area when needed.
- Assist with Service Days and club programs/special events as required.
- Follow all policies in the Team Member Handbook and comply with team member parking.
- Experience in fast-paced, service-based environments preferred.
- Experience handling emergency situations strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail (especially cleanliness/maintenance).
- Experienced Lifeguard.
- Current Lifeguard certification required prior to first day of employment.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
- Red Cross Lifeguard certification preferred.
- College degree preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and remain active throughout the shift.
- Must successfully pass lifeguard certification requirements and perform rescue skills during in-service training.
- Work environment may be warm/humid and loud (pool deck).
- Must be able to reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 75 lbs occasionally.
- Schedule may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays; MOD coverage spans club open-to-close seven days/week.
