Senior Tax Preparer / Assistant Manager
Location: Charlottetown, PEI
Role Type: Permanent An established and highly reputable accounting services firm in Charlottetown is seeking a Senior Tax Preparer / Assistant Manager to join their team. This is a key hire to support the transition of a retiring employee and ensure continued operational success during peak tax seasons.

This firm specializes in personal income tax preparation
, completing approximately 2,500 returns annually
, with nearly 2,000 processed during peak season (January–May). The Charlottetown office operates in a collaborative, open-concept environment

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review personal income tax returns with a high degree of accuracy
  • Manage the full client cycle, including:

    Client intake and information gathering

    Data entry and tax preparation

    Final review and quality assurance
  • Interpret and apply CRA guidelines to resolve complex tax scenarios
  • Build strong client relationships and confidently gather required financial information
  • Support daily office operations, including front-facing client interaction
  • Provide oversight and guidance to a small team as part of the assistant manager function
  • Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience preparing personal income tax returns
  • Strong knowledge of CRA regulations and compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume workloads, especially during peak tax season
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to engage clients effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex tax situations
  • Experience with tax software (e.g., Can Tax or similar platforms)
  • Compensation & Benefits
  • $25,000 annually to start (Assistant Manager level)
  • Increase to $30,000 annually upon successful transition into the full role
  • Overtime paid during tax season
  • Performance-based annual bonus (ranging from approximately $300–$3,000 based on tenure and production)
  • RRSP program, vacation, and on-site parking
  • Schedule
  • June–December: Approximately 10 hours per week
  • January–May (Tax Season): Full-time hours with significant overtime and extended workdays
