We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead capital projects while supporting ongoing manufacturing operations. This role will play a key part in facility expansion, equipment implementation, and driving production efficiency across the plant. The successful candidate will also provide guidance and oversight to a junior Process Engineer and collaborate cross‑functionally to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
CapitalProjects & Engineering Leadership
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of capital projects including facility upgrades, equipment installation, and process improvements
- Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables
- Review and approve engineering drawings, layouts, P&IDs, and equipment specifications
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders throughout project lifecycle
- Support day‑to‑day production by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, throughput, and product quality
- Troubleshoot process and equipment issues and implement sustainable solutions
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
- Support new product introduction and scale‑up activities
- Provide guidance, coaching, and oversight to a junior Process Engineer
- Partner closely with Production, QA/QC, Maintenance, and R&D teams
- Contribute to a collaborative, solutions‑focused engineering culture
- Ensure all engineering activities align with GMP and applicable regulatory standards
- Support validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) for equipment and processes
- Maintain accurate documentation including SOPs, change controls, and engineering reports
- Promote and support a safe working environment
- Participate in risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience leading or supporting capital projects
- Experience in regulated environments (food, pharmaceutical, or natural health products) is considered an asset
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment
- Experience with AutoCAD, project management tools, and data analysis tools
- Knowledge of GMP and validation practices is an asset
- Continuous improvement mindset (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Capital projects delivered on time and within budget
- Improved production efficiency and reduced downtime
- Strong collaboration across teams
- Effective mentorship and development of junior engineering staff
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
