Mental Health, Behavior Technician/RBT
The Board-Certified Behavior Analyst provides behavioral management support services and develops and oversees behavior management plans with individuals, their families, and community organizations. Assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates intervention strategies for clients with complex needs. Leads case planning, and management of care plans and provides consultation and education to clients, families, caregivers and staff. Reports to the Director of Acute and Complex Care Mental Health and Addictions.
Dutieswill include:
- Provide assessment, provisional diagnosis, treatment, crisis intervention, clinical consultation, case management, education, and referrals.
- Within units in hospitals, home, and community-based placements provide in-depth behavioral and functional assessments. Observes behavior/skill performance, elicits reports of client behavior and skill from parents/caregivers/staff; observes interaction; measures behavior/skill; explains targets; reviews data and provides feedback on the success of interventions.
- Assess behavior and its functions using formal or informal observations and measurement and interpretation of results (e.g., stimulus preference assessment, functional assessment, experimental functional analysis, staff performance assessment).
- Determine client goals based on factors such as client preferences, supporting environments, risks, constraints, and social validity.
- Design, implement, and systematically monitor skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs.
- Delivery of BA interventions directly to individuals who present with a range of skills, levels of functioning, and ages. Plan for and identify unwanted effects of the recommended interventions.
- Ensuring assessment and treatment plan information is distributed according to departmental requirements and standards of client care
- Recording a progress note with every contact related to the client and with the client, or group
- Participating in providing staff training, workshops and information sessions
- Assisting with the monitoring and evaluation of services provided (providing statistics, case reviews and PSMS reports for complaints/compliments)
- Master's degree, or higher, in psychology or other field related to behavior therapy as approved by the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board, that includes university-level courses in clinical assessment/evaluation, clinical interviewing and clinical intervention, clinical or applied ethics, the principle of learning, motivation, and behavior analysis as required for certification; additional courses in adult psychopathology, human neuropsychology, cognitive neuroscience, family system are preferred.
- Valid registration with the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
- Minimum one year of employment experience successfully applying: behavioral assessment/analysis; positive behavioral support plans/behavioral interventions; and staff/caregiver education required.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and behavioral challenges.
- Completion of supervised practical training in behavioural analysis as required for certification (Board Certified Behaviour Analyst).
- Experience with Consultation for Adults with Neurodevelopmental Disorders preferred.
- Training or experience with positive behavioral supports and education are assets.
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
- Completion of other recommended MHA education is an asset.
- Primary location at Hillsborough Hospital, with travel to other MH&A locations as needed to meet operational requirements.

Salary Range:$39.53 - $49.42 per hour
