Job Summary:
At NAV CANADA, we’re experts in navigating Canada’s skies. Helping pilots safely cross 18 million square kilometers of Canadian and North Atlantic airspace is what we do. Flight Service Specialists (FS Specialists) play a critical role in supporting the safe, efficient and orderly movement of air traffic in 7 flight information regions (FIRs), working in NAV CANADA sites across the country.
FS Specialists provide essential information, including weather updates, runway advisories, and coordination of vehicle movement on runways and taxiways. As a member of Airport Advisory Services (AAS), they work at one of 53 Flight Service Stations (FSS) across the country. 9 of these FSS are located within the Montreal FIR:
Gatineau, Iles-de-la-Madeleine, Kuujjuaq, La Grande, Mirabel, Mont-Joli, Rouyn, Sept-Iles and Val d'Or.
As part of Flight Information Centres (FIC), FS Specialists deliver pre‑flight and in‑flight services such as weather briefings, flight planning support, updates on airspace restrictions or hazards, monitoring flights en route, issuing safety advisories and coordinating alerting services for overdue or distressed aircraft. The assigned FIC for this position is the Quebec FIC.
Salary and TrainingAirport Advisory Services pathway:
Certified salary $80,859 to $127,424. Training includes two phases (initial classroom & simulator, on‑the‑job). Training salary: $50,200. Duration: 8 to 11 months. For remote locations, location incentives: $3,000 after first year, $5,000 after second year, $7,000 after third year.
Flight Information Centre pathway:
Certified salary $96,157 to $122,619. Training includes two phases (initial classroom & simulator, on‑the‑job). Training salary: $50,200. Duration: 14 to 17 months.

The recruitment and training processes are rigorous and highly competitive, including cognitive testing, pre‑screening interviews, and an assessment centre with individual and group exercises. Assessments for candidates in Montreal will be held in August 2026.

- Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Prepared to undergo a medical, security check, and drug testing (including cannabis).
- Ready to start training after successful completion of the recruitment and selection process.
- Willingness to relocate to any Montreal FIR location listed for FS Specialist.
- Bilingual proficiency (strong fluency in French and English).
