Salary Range: $70,000 annually + performance bonus, commensurate with education and experience

The OpportunityThe Quality Control Supervisor oversees the testing and analysis of raw materials, in‑process materials, and finished products to ensure they meet established specifications and regulatory requirements.
This role provides hands‑on supervision on the manufacturing floor, leads a team of QC Technicians, and ensures adherence to Natural Health Product regulations and food safety standards.
The QC Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining product integrity, supporting audits, and fostering a strong culture of quality and food safety.
What Success Looks Like- Strong floor presence with proactive quality oversight across all production shifts
- Effective supervision and development of QC Technicians
- Accurate and timely review of testing documentation and batch records
- Compliance with Health Canada Natural Health Product Regulations, FDA, HACCP, CFIA, and SQF requirements
- Successful audit support and CAPA implementation
- Continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality, efficiency, and compliance
- Strong collaboration between QA, Production, and cross‑functional teams
- Provide active, hands‑on supervision on the manufacturing floor during all production shifts
- Monitor critical control points throughout the manufacturing process
- Ensure adherence to Batch Production Records (BPRs) and immediately address Quality Events
- Ensure allergen control and cross‑contamination prevention protocols are followed
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of QC Technicians
- Assign daily tasks including in‑process testing, environmental monitoring, and finished product inspections
- Review technicians’ documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching
- Ensure appropriate staffing coverage across shifts
- Oversee sampling and testing of raw materials and finished products
- Monitor critical quality attributes including:
- Brix and moisture content
- pH levels
- Gummy weight and dimensional consistency
- Sensory attributes (texture, color, appearance)
- Metal detection and packaging integrity
- Review Certificates of Analysis (COAs)
- Place materials or products on hold when specifications are not met
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and traceability of samples
- Ensure compliance with Natural Health Product regulations (Health Canada Natural Health Product Regulations, 21 CFR Part 111, etc.)
- Develop and revise quality control policies and procedures
- Support internal and external audits (FDA, third‑party, customer)
- Review batch records and Quality Event investigations
- Support root cause investigations and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs)
- Ensure manufacturing and quality testing equipment remains qualified and validated
- Maintain accurate testing records, corrective actions, and ad‑hoc reports for QA and management
- Collaborate with QA and Production leadership to identify process improvements
- Analyze quality trends and implement preventive controls
- Support environmental monitoring and sanitation verification programs
- Promote a strong quality and food safety culture
- Identify and document defects or deviations and initiate corrective actions
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining product quality
- Perform other duties as required
