Position Overview

Minnesota Mental Health Clinics’ Center for Diagnostic Excellence is proud to offer a comprehensive practicum training program for Doctoral Clinical PsyD and Doctoral Counseling PsyD students. This program is designed to provide in‑depth training in psychological assessment, including ADHD testing for clients aged 6 and older.

Participants will gain hands‑on experience in testing administration, data interpretation, report writing, and providing therapeutic feedback. Our program emphasizes a collaborative, empathetic approach to client care, with the goal of fostering a deep understanding of diagnoses and improving client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Training and Supervision:
    Participate in a structured 10‑week onboarding program featuring intensive training, shadowing, and supervision.
  • Assessment Administration:
    Administer, score, and interpret psychological assessments.
  • Report Writing:
    Develop integrative psychological reports with individualized recommendations.
  • Feedback Delivery:
    Provide therapeutic feedback sessions to clients and caregivers, learn up‑to‑date research on ADHD and provide psychoeducation to clients and caregivers.
  • Care Coordination:
    Collaborate with caregivers to ensure comprehensive support for clients, coordinate referrals and support, and explore warm handoff to longer‑term care for select clients.
  • Competency Development:
    Build skills in testing, interviewing, and diagnosis through weekly testing cases, individual and group supervision, and didactic training sessions.
Training Program Highlights
  • Onboarding
    :
    • Orientation, equipment setup, and EHR training.
    • Shadowing testing administration and conducting supervised testing cases.
    • Development of foundational knowledge in ADHD and psychological testing.
  • Ongoing Practicum
    :
    • Weekly caseloads starting with one case per week, increasing to 1.5 cases weekly by week 16.
    • Completion of approximately 47 integrative reports over the practicum year.
    • Bi‑weekly didactic training sessions after initial onboarding period.
  • Assessment Tools
    :
    • Training includes the use of widely respected measures such as WISC‑V, WAIS‑5, D‑KEFS, MMPI‑3, Conners‑3, and more.
Qualifications
  • Enrollment in a Clinical PsyD or Counseling Psychology graduate program.
  • Strong interest in psychological assessment and testing.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and learning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting.
