Production Manager – Michael Foods

Location DescriptionChaska, Minnesota is a recognized “best small town” in the state, featuring a highly rated school system, proximity to lakes, major highways, shopping malls, and the Twin Cities. The facility focuses on potato products and is part of Michael Foods’ long‑standing commitment to quality ingredients and innovative processes.
Responsibilities- Assume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for all employees.
- Implement safety policies and procedures, incorporating safety and health into all tasks.
- Oversee all aspects of product manufacturing, ensuring compliance with GMPs, maintaining sanitary conditions, and preserving product quality.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the operational processes associated with the manufacturing facility.
- Design and implement training programs to meet company objectives related to human safety, product quality, and professional development.
- Lead and participate in plant and corporate continuous‑improvement teams.
- Collaborate with management to promote safety, facility growth, and team development.
- Prepare department budgets and monitor expenditures.
- Develop capital proposals for expansion or cost‑improvement projects.
- Continuously improve product quality.
- Coordinate with customer service on correspondence and complaint investigation.
- Interact directly with regulatory inspectors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
– Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Preferred fields:
Supply Chain Management, Food Science, Engineering or related disciplines. - Minimum of 5–7 years of production and supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience supervising personnel in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Strong communication skills for responding to inquiries from customers, vendors, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
- Skill in presenting information to senior management and public audiences.
- Analytical ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles (GMP, SQF) and U.S. regulations (USDA, FDA, OSHA, etc.).
- Understanding of plant operations and production scheduling.
- Experience leading high‑performance work teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and inventory control computer programs.
- Leadership and interpersonal skills for guiding and communicating within teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including the ability to prepare detailed presentations for upper management.
$99,119 – $154,626 per year.
