Recreation Assistant

Job Description

The Recreation Assistant is responsible for engaging and supporting individuals of all ages in programs and recreational activities. Various programs designed for preschool, youth or teens or occasionally adults.

• Supports program participants with socialization and recreation.
• Assists and supports the Recreation team with programs, events and projects as requested.
• Encourages participation in planned activities.
• Maintains supervision and safety of participants and responds to emergency situations.
• Communicates effectively with participants, families and other staff.
• Serves as a positive role model and leader while interacting with program participants.
• Assists with set-up and clean-up of program equipment and space.
• Performs all other related duties as requested or assigned.

• 16 years of age or older

• Valid Driver’s License
• American Red Cross CPR Certification or willingness to complete certification within 90 days of hire
• Ability to demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity with all patrons
• Energetic with a genuine interest, patience and enthusiasm for working with people

• Attention to safety standards, procedures, and practices
• Attentiveness and responsiveness to participants and parents/guardians

• Bending, sitting, stooping, squatting, walking, and running
• Ability to lift and/or carry up to 40 lbs.

• Indoor, sometimes outdoor environment subject to varying weather conditions
• Often noisy environment
