POSITION DESCRIPTION

The medical receptionist will support the mission, vision and values of the CKCHC. Within a patient orientated team environment, the medical receptionist will provide reception, clerical and administration support for all services offered through the CKCHC.

  • Perform reception and administrative duties; greeting clients in person and on the phone, photocopying, faxing and scanning documents into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
  • Schedule clients, specialist and diagnostic testing appointments
  • Prepare, maintain, update, retrieve, files charts manually and electronically
  • Provide referral information for internal and/or external programs and services
  • Ensure accurate tracking and logging of all client interventions, hours and appropriate reporting requirements
  • Prepare referral and consultation letters as requested
  • Maintain appointment scheduling templates and an up-to-date resource and referral directory
  • Supervise graduate students in field placement practicum or internships, as requested
  • Respect the cultural diversity of the client, community and CKCHC.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • 2-5 years of recent experience with preference to those who have worked in a community health setting
  • Experience with reception responsibilities using a multi-phone system and EMR
  • Exceptional customer service skills required to work with internal and external clients and community partners
  • Strong communication and excellent interpersonal skills, combined good analytical, problem solving, organizational and administrative skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and work effectively in an interprofessional team environment
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and EMR programs
  • French and other language skills, an asset.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Medical Secretary Diploma from a recognized institution
  • As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccinations (2 doses required)
