ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skill, Experience)
  • College of Nurses of Ontario registration in the Extended Class (NP
    - Primary Health Care or NP - Adult).
  • Baccalaureate in Nursing (BScN), master's degree in nursing (MScN or MN) preferred.
  • Gerontological Nursing specialty certificate preferred.
  • Canadian Nurses Association Certification in Gerontological Nursing preferred.
  • Current BLS.
  • P.I.E.C.E.S. (Physical, Intellectual, Emotional Capabilities, Environment, Social) training preferred.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention training preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in geriatric nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in emergency nursing preferred.
  • Professional liability protection.
  • Advanced clinical judgement and comprehensive skills in triage, examination and treatment, with the ability to effectively adapt to constantly changing and unpredictable situations.
  • Experience in the hospital setting, with a Critical Care or Emergency Care background preferred.
  • Experience in providing care to the elderly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of an interprofessional team.
  • Effective interpersonal listening, time management, organizational, teamwork, leadership, problem solving, and networking.
  • Demonstrated ability in program/service development including planning, implementation, evaluation, and promotion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as computer literacy.
  • Satisfactory attendance.
