Teaching Assistant (Secondary School)
Location: Gillingham, Kent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract: Permanent, Full‑time
Start Date: September 2026 (or sooner by agreement)
Join a thriving secondary school in Gillingham. We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students in reaching their full academic and personal potential.
Key Responsibilities- Support students in lessons across a range of subjects.
- Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and improve outcomes.
- Assist teachers in preparing learning resources and classroom activities.
- Support students with additional learning needs, including SEND and SEMH requirements.
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
- Build strong relationships with students, staff and parents to promote student success.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Experience working with young people, ideally within a school or educational setting.
- A positive, patient and proactive approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build rapport with students and motivate them to succeed.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- GCSE English and Mathematics (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent.
- A genuine passion for education and supporting young people.
