If you are a part- or fully-qualified accountant, or QBE, with solid experience calculating service charges within a housing association, this is the perfect opportunity to showcase your expertise.
You will take ownership of service charge structures, ensuring accurate cost recovery and value for money for customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Service Charge Administration:
Prepare accurate estimates and actuals statements across fixed and variable tenures, ensuring strict legislative and lease compliance.
Financial Control:
Administer sinking funds, review apportionment methodologies, and prepare robust audit files for external auditors.
Scrutiny & Analysis:
Review external management company estimates and invoices, investigate budget variances, and produce regular financial KPIs.
Collaboration:
Partner with Asset Management, Development, and Housing teams to identify rechargeable costs, support dispute resolutions, and assist with Section 20 consultations.
This is a hybrid role working 3-4 days per week at the HQ in Chatham, Kent (free onsite parking). Salary £40,680 plus annual bonus, generous holiday allowance and 6% pension.
What you’ll bring:
Housing
Experience:
Proven experience calculating and monitoring service charges within a housing association environment.
Qualifications:
You will ideally be either part- or fully-qualified with a relevant accounting qualification, but QBE candidates will also be considered.
Analytical
Skills:
A sharp eye for detail to establish coding systems, scrutinise external invoices, and investigate variances.
Communication:
The ability to consult effectively with residents, support colleagues with service charge queries, and demonstrate awareness of diverse customer needs.
