Financial Assessment Officer

We are currently recruiting for a Financial Assessment Officer to determine service user contributions for community and residential care services and personal budgets, identify potential welfare benefit entitlement, and work out contributions in line with the Councils Fairer Charging Policies, Charging Regulations, Accommodation Guidelines, Care Act 2014, and Third Party Policy. The role offers practical assistance and advice with the relevant welfare benefit claim processes.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct financial assessments and annual reviews under the Councils Charging Policies, by visit and through desk-based work, ensuring compliance with legislation, procedures, and timescales so that the Council correctly charges for social services care packages.
  • Maximise income for the local authority by advising, processing and monitoring Deferred Payment Agreements for users of chargeable social care services, pursuant to the Councils Deferred Payment Policy scheme.
  • Provide advisory service to clients and providers through all forms of communication, handling complaints, appeals and complex cases such as deprivation, disability-related expenditure and safeguarding cases.
  • Identify potential welfare benefit entitlements and advise users on relevant claims.

Salary and Career Progression

Salary will be at level A unless the applicant meets the criteria for level B or C according to the Career Progression Framework (CPF). Opportunities exist to progress from level A to B and B to C, with support through induction, probation and performance appraisal.
