- Complete rigorous accelerated program including all certifications needed for the Store Manager role.
- Attend and complete classroom learning, online training and on‑job training. Fulfills assigned rotations.
- Follow individual development plans offered by District Manager. Participate in one‑on‑one conversations with Store Manager and District Manager to have continuous professional growth and demonstrate permanent assignment readiness.
- Seek self‑development by monitoring own performance, setting high personal standards, learning about retail, pharmacy, and management, and seeking best practices.
- Learn and actively implement compliance SOPs across front‑end and pharmacy. Gain knowledge of all computer and technology systems.
- Obtain pharmacy technician registration/licensure as required by state law (and pursue PTCB certification, as required by state).
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve complaints timely.
- Monitor customer service, coach and train, develop improvement plans. Empower team to find impactful resolutions and exceed expectations.
- Support Store Manager in observing trends, analyzing feedback, and improving service metrics.
- Shadow Store Manager to gain experience supervising operations and team members, including opening/closing, delegating tasks, merchandising, and promotion management.
- Protect store assets by administering loss prevention programs and monitoring electronic surveillance systems.
- Analyze inventory trends and supervise inventory management. Ensure SOPs for receiving, counting, ordering, pricing, and returning are followed.
- Supervise operations, comply with all applicable laws and regulations for alcohol, tobacco, fresh food, and pharmacy products.
- Provide safety and well‑being for team members; utilize Security Operations Center.
- Comply with company policies and maintain respectful relationships.
- Complete special assignments and assist team members as needed.
- Analyze financial and performance data for the store and pharmacy. Develop action plans to improve results.
- Identify sales opportunities and growth potential.
- Review and analyze asset protection data to reduce loss.
- Prepare action plans based on daily performance indicators and weekly metrics.
- Analyze pharmacy performance indicators and collaborate with Pharmacy Manager or Operations Manager.
- Work with Store Manager to understand key inventory metrics and processes.
- Learn how to grow front‑end and pharmacy business with new initiatives, community outreach, and partnerships.
- Learn all aspects of people management, including training and coaching SOPs.
- Use Walgreens’ HR and people management systems to supervise team.
- Shadow performance conversations and understand metrics.
- Review company policy and local state and federal laws related to hiring, record retention, training.
- Support the team in leveraging strengths to increase engagement and solve problems.
- Shadow Store Manager and attend critical communication sessions, learn best practices for providing and receiving feedback.
- Assist with community events planning and attendance.
- Facilitate team member discussions on key operational and engagement metrics.
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years retail management experience or High School Diploma/GED and 5 years retail management experience.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including extended days, evenings, and weekend hours.
- Willingness to accept assignment into a Store Manager position if offered.
- Willingness to transfer to other Walgreens retail assets within the same hiring area.
- PTCB Certification.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Managerial experience in Retail or Hospitality as Assistant Manager or similar.
