Sarkes Tarzian is seeking a seasoned Reporter for WRCB Local 3 News in Chattanooga, TN. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter, team player, and someone who wants to work for a company that cares for its employees and the community. • Write packages, voice‑overs, and live shots for air and digital platforms.
• General assignment reporting.
• Set up stories and keep in close communication with producers and the assignment editor.
• Generate new ideas for the assignment editor.
• Follow up on previously reported stories for new developments.
• Read local newspapers and publications and stay aware of local, national, and international events.
• Attend all editorial meetings during your shift and arrive with story ideas.
• Continuously work on all on‑air skills, including live, voice, and communication.
• Work with and give guidance to photographers.

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism (preferred).
• High school degree or equivalent (required).
• One year of professional reporting with live reporting experience (preferred).
• Develop and maintain contacts in the community.
• Ability to research, write, and report news stories for television.
• Typing and writing skills.
• Comfortable with non‑linear editors.
• Understanding of ENG equipment.
• Good interviewing skills, broadcast voice, and professional on‑air presentation.
• Proficient at writing to video.
• Ability to work under deadline pressure daily.
• Ability to accept and implement constructive criticism.

The News Department functions 24/7, so the position may require long hours, unplanned interruptions at odd hours, and occasional weekend or holiday work.
