We have an opening for a 9‑month tenure‑track Biology Faculty position at our Chattanooga State campus.

The role will be responsible for the following:
- Instruct Introduction to Biology 1 and 2 and General Biology 1 and 2 across day, evening, online, and on‑ground formats.
- Manage the classroom instructional process, evaluate students, monitor progress, assign grades, and maintain attendance and grade records.
- Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) and Faculty Feedback.
- Advise students on academic preparation, career goals, and retention.
- Maintain required classroom and office hours.
- Serve as a member of the Science Department within the Math and Sciences Division for the Teaching Excellence strategic theme.
- Select texts and supplemental materials, including OER.
- Develop supplemental instructional resources.
- Use current technology in instruction in accordance with the college’s digital accessibility policy.
- Create and revise courses and/or curricula as needed; maintain updated course syllabi.
- Remain current within the field of assigned instruction, related occupational areas, and technologies.
- Acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials.
- Attend scheduled college, divisional, and departmental professional development and in‑service activities and participate in the annual faculty evaluation process.
- Respect the rights of students and access to educational opportunities.
- Assist in recruitment, selection, orientation, and evaluation of potential students.
- Assist in formal and informal placement activities for employment and/or transfer to four‑year institutions.
- Support student activities.
- Assist in recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned.
- Participate in accreditation, assessment, and performance funding processes.
- Support and participate in college/division/department committees, organizations, and task forces.
- Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues.
- Strengthen relationships between the college and the community through outreach activities.
- Attend required college, division, and department meetings.
- Support the Academic Advising Center.
- Stay current with relevant Tennessee Transfer Pathways.
- Participate in regular reviews of relevant Tennessee Transfer Pathways.
- Assist with college-wide advising as needed.
- Familiarity with holistic support for students outside the classroom.
- Ensure services promote accessibility.
- Structure student experiences to ensure relevance in academic, student life, and co‑curricular activities.
- Promote, support, and participate in student recruitment and retention efforts.
- Supports responsible fiscal stewardship of the funds allocated to the Science Department.
- Embrace and promote the College’s goals related to organizational culture and community.
- Maintain an open, inviting, and professional office environment.
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Earned Master’s degree in Biology from a regionally accredited institution or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Biology.
