This is a full‑time, 12‑month faculty position. Responsibilities include instruction, course and curriculum development, professional development, service to students, and service to the college and community.
Essential Functions- Instruction – Teach the Welding Technologies course, facilitate classroom instruction, evaluate and monitor student progress, assign grades, maintain attendance and grade records, counsel students on academic and career goals, and support student retention.
- Learning Management System – Manage and maintain a site on the college’s eLearn platform for class documents.
- Curriculum Development – Develop and maintain the program curriculum and maintain an advisory committee that meets twice a year.
- Professional Growth – Stay current in the welding industry, complete assigned professional development and in‑service activities, and participate in the annual faculty evaluation process.
- Service to Students – Assist program graduates with employment opportunities and maintain up‑to‑date technical skills.
- Familiarity with student support services such as Admissions, Enrollment Service Center, TCAT Student Services, High School Programs, Recruiting & Orientation, Career Services, Student Support Center, Student Conduct, Student Life, Multicultural and International Services, Adult Student Services, and the Center for Access and Disability Services.
- Ensure that services and activities promote accessibility.
- Student‑ and community‑focused support in the TCAT Division aligned with the college’s core values.
- Support the college’s commitment to a welcoming and respectful environment.
- Offer responsive and consistent services for students, faculty and staff.
- Demonstrate teaching excellence through evidence‑based instructional practices that foster learning.
- Adapt tests and refine new pedagogical approaches suitable for the campus context.
- Structure experiences to ensure accessibility and relevance in academic, student life and co‑curricular activities.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in the welding service industry, and a graduate of a one‑year diploma program or four years of experience as a welding technician.
- Evidence of ability to teach students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to remain current in the welding industry.
- Basic computer skills.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree.
- Certified Welding Educator (CWE) or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
- Prior teaching experience.
- Computer skills with Microsoft products.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the welding industry.
- Exhibit a commitment to promoting academic excellence in students.
- Demonstrate a high level of self‑discipline and self‑motivation.
- Exude a positive, supportive, and cooperative disposition toward others.
- Demonstrate punctuality and attention to detail.
- Communicate effectively with diverse audiences in verbal and written form.
Instructor: $55,439 – $66,527;
Associate Instructor: $50,894 – $61,074. Salary commensurate with experience and according to the Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines.
