Overview
Barge Design Solutions is seeking a LSIT/Registered Land Surveyor. This position requires an LSIT with a minimum of 4 years of experience or a Registered Land Surveyor license. The role works independently on complex surveying projects for Civil, Environmental, and Transportation-related work, providing seasoned solutions to Project Managers, Engineers, Architects, Landscape Architects, and others. The ideal candidate will be technically proficient in Civil 3D and/or Micro Station Open Roads, and motivated to grow with Barge.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with discipline leads on scheduling objectives and project milestones for geomatics and surveying projects.
- Approve a subset of complex deliverables and surveys by analyzing reports, client requirements, and other relevant information.
- Perform in-process quality reviews of survey field activities, legal descriptions, maps, aerial photographs, calculations, and other project deliverables.
- Perform complex calculations utilizing Trimble Business Center software.
- Act as project-specific lead for technical survey/geomatics work of others.
- Prepare computations and cost estimates using various software packages; utilize GIS software to collect data, attribute features, produce maps, etc.
- Anticipate roadblocks and provide recommendations to ensure accuracy of survey work.
- Communicate with clients regarding projects and attend client meetings.
- Coordinate deliverables between clients, teaming partners, and other disciplines.
- Stay up to date with new methods, standards, regulations, and developments; recommend new practices or changes.
- Mentor less experienced team members and review work for quality purposes.
- Prepare project proposals and provide resourcefulness and initiative to perform projects.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education & Experience Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying/Geomatics or related field from an accredited program, or other relevant education/experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in boundary, topographic, and construction surveying, preferably from an A&E firm.
- Strong technical skills including data processing, traverses and GNSS/GPS networks; familiarity with Trimble Business Center software.
- Ability to apply seasoned knowledge to resolve issues; extensive knowledge of survey equipment and software for field and office work.
- Familiarity with 3D scanning and UAV technology is a plus;
Part 107 UAV Remote Pilot license is a plus; ability to extract drone data using Pix4D or similar software. - Familiarity with terrestrial, aerial, and mobile scanning and related software (e.g., Leica Cyclone, TopoDOT).
- Ability to manage field and office personnel as needed; valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; ability to work varying schedules and travel including overnight.
- Work environment includes outdoor work and rough terrain.
