Long Description

The primary function of this position is to research, plan, coordinate design, and monitor mechanical, electromechanical, and welding equipment to meet production goals. Work across the organization to foster continuous improvement for long-term success.

Duties and Responsibilities

Understand and comply with all OSHA, safety, and PPE requirements.

Ensure health and safety of self and colleagues, including outside contractors or support personnel.

Create, document, develop, and deliver procedures to ensure equipment meets targets related to Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

Act as the owner and technical leader/expert of the process, monitoring and maintaining all systems, including Hot and Cold Stamping Presses/Lines and Robotics used for material handling and processing.

Analyze current equipment conditions and operating characteristics to seek improvement opportunities.

Analyze data to develop and implement strategies to improve department KPIs such as run rate, throughput, and material reduction.

Support maintenance with troubleshooting during downtime.

Generate documentation for sustainability, including 'How To' guides and procedures.

Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) Optimization based on data, OEM recommendations, failure modes, and feedback.

Manage spare parts proactively.

Collaborate with vendors on new products to replace or improve current equipment, increasing reliability and longevity.

Assist and train Maintenance Team on Standardized Maintenance Processes.

Implement 5S and promote its deployment within the team.

Lead continuous improvement activities focusing on Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

Design, install, and troubleshoot machinery and capital equipment.

Support Program Management in evaluating new work, processes, and engineering changes.

Support the Quality team in evaluating and improving product dimensional reports.

Support team functions through Kaizen submissions, cross-training, and problem solving.

Assist during online troubleshooting and corrective actions involving controls, robots, and PLC systems.

Participate in Layered Process Audits and internal ISO/TS 16949 audits (for certified internal auditors).

Education

Bachelor’s degree in electronic/mechanical engineering or technical degree, or equivalent experience of 5+ years.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Hands-on expertise with mechanical presses (preferably: Fagor, Eagle, Danly, Shuller, Loire).
Availability to work on weekends/holidays for maintenance/projects.
Leadership skills to coordinate and lead maintenance projects and vendor interactions.
Ability to read electrical and pneumatic diagrams.
Basic knowledge of PLCs, specifically A-B Control Logix & Panel View HMI’s.
Welding experience is a plus.
Understanding of Lean Principles and Tools.
