Structural Steel Project Manager role within a construction-driven environment, requiring hands‑on experience in mechanical and structural construction.
This position manages the full lifecycle of structural steel fabrication and erection across commercial, industrial, civic, cultural, and data center projects throughout the Southeast and Midwest. The firm has a long operating history in complex steel packages, a consistent backlog, and stable project flow.
The role requires a minimum of five years managing structural steel projects in commercial or industrial construction. Responsibilities include interpreting architectural and structural documents, translating design intent into fabrication and field execution, maintaining schedules, directing delivery and erection sequencing, and keeping production moving under active jobsite conditions. The project manager controls RFIs, change orders, contract terms, scope, and job profitability. Strong command of job costing, budgeting, and project documentation is expected, along with disciplined coordination among architects, engineers, owners, fabricators, and erection subcontractors.
Projects are managed from award through closeout, including oversight of engineering review, detailing, fabrication, logistics, and site installation. The role drives cost, schedule, and quality objectives while coordinating closely with shop, field, and subcontract partners. Responsibilities include review of submittals, drawings, compliance requirements, and technical support to estimating during bid review.
