Position OverviewWe are seeking a Tax Manager/Supervisor who will serve as a primary client contact, manage the full lifecycle of tax engagements, mentor staff, and provide high‑level tax guidance. This role includes tax compliance, projections, notice responses, strategic planning, and participation in department training and development initiatives.
Essential Functions- Assist in handling routine questions and audits from federal and state agencies.
- Serve as the primary client contact on assigned engagements, providing updates and addressing inquiries.
- Deliver top‑quality service by supervising associates and seniors throughout all stages of engagements.
- Advise clients on tax implications of business objectives and recommend alternative strategies.
- Manage planning, administration, and completion of tax engagements.
- Perform primary review of tax returns and written tax advice.
- Prepare or supervise preparation of tax accrual work papers.
- Review tax law developments and determine applicability to client situations.
- Identify technical tax issues and collaborate with partners and specialists for timely resolution.
- Escalate high‑risk engagement issues to partners when appropriate.
- Act as a mentor and role model for staff.
- Train interns and staff on tax software and departmental procedures.
- Conduct in‑house training sessions.
- Assist in developing departmental policies and procedures when needed.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA license required.
- Five to twelve years of public accounting experience preferred.
- Minimum of two years of supervisory experience.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting procedures and GAAP.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to multitask.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
