Surgical Tech SORT-East Surgery-Full-Time

Location: Erlanger Medical Center, East Chattanooga, TN

A surgical technologist student employed by Erlanger Medical Center responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role includes obtaining surgical supplies, preparing the surgical field, maintaining procedure sterility, and collaborating with medical, anesthesia, and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

• Assume on‑call and late duty as assigned.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical cases.
• Process instruments and equipment.
• Assist with surgical scrubs and specimen handling.
• Maintain compliance with surgical aseptic technique and OR practices.
• Support surgical team and ensure procedure sterility.

• High School education or equivalent required.
• Training in surgical aseptic technique and OR practices essential.
• BLS certification required; to be maintained.
• Must maintain certification as a surgical technologist from a national certifying body within 18 months of completing a surgical technology program, or hold equivalent evidence from Armed Forces, National Guard, or U.S. Public Health Service, or be recognized by the State of TN.
• Preferred:
  Experience in surgical technology.

• State of TN recognition or national certification.
• Prior surgical technology program completion.
