Job SummaryA licensed physical therapist employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for direct and indirect care in the rehabilitation of the patient. Diagnose and manage movement dysfunction and enhance physical and functional abilities. Restore, maintain and promote optimal physical function, wellness, fitness and quality of life as it relates to movement and health. Prevent onset, symptoms and progression of impairments, functional limitations and disabilities that may result from diseases, disorders, conditions or injuries.
Evaluate orthopedic patients in outpatient setting and administer patient treatments to relieve pain or improve function. Provide professional care in accordance with American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) standards and Tennessee State Board of Examiners scope of practice.
- Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy (required)
- Masters or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy (preferred)
- Knowledge of general physical therapy principles and practical skills (required)
- At least 2-3 years of Outpatient Orthopaedic practice experience (preferred)
- Physical Therapist Tennessee licensure (required)
- BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained (required)
- Manual Therapy Skill Set / Certification (preferred)
- Evaluate orthopedic patients in outpatient setting, plan and administer treatments to relieve pain or improve function.
- Provide professional care in accordance with APTA standards and Tennessee state scope of practice.
- Direct PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANTS and PATIENT CARE TECHNICIANS in patient treatments.
- Maintain accurate written reports and comply with APTA treatment procedures and professional ethics.
- Participate in team meetings, discharge planning and community education.
- Act as clinical instructor for PT and PTA students.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts of the department and the Medical Center.
Provides physical therapy evaluations and develops an individualized plan of treatment for each patient. Delivers age-appropriate treatment and participates in team meetings, discharge planning and patient education. Maintains standards set down by the American Physical Therapy Association regarding treatment procedures and professional ethics. Act as clinical instructor for PT and PTA students and participates in continuous quality improvement efforts of the department and the Medical Center.
