A non‑licensed healthcare provider employed by Erlanger Health Systems is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of patients.

High School Diploma or equivalent, or meet one of the preferred qualifications.

• Certified Nursing Assistant (Tennessee) or First Responder.
• EMT, Nursing student with Fundamentals of Nursing completed.
• Medical Assistant, Pre‑Med student, Military Corpsman, Combat Life Saver or Combat Medic, Surgical Technician.
• Individuals previously employed as PCT before 3‑1‑2004 without above requirements will be grandfathered, but must complete Erlanger fundamentals checklist, observed demonstration, and pass a written exam.

Preferred, but not required.

Position requirement:
License/Certification/Registration.

• BLS completed prior to starting, and maintained.

• CNA certification, EMT, First Responder.

The efecto NICU Patient Care Technician serves as a unit clerk by answering the telephone, screening and verifying all visitors who enter the unit, while maintaining and completing clerical responsibilities. Responsible for stocking department supplies, maintaining par levels, and cleaning designated NICU equipment and unit‑specific areas. Must communicate effectively and adapt to a constantly changing workload related to increased volume and acuity.

The PCT may also perform non‑licensed patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse and may be floated to work in other areas of Children’s hospitals or utilized as a sitter.
