The Process Technician III
, located at our 316 plant in Chattanooga, TN, is a highly skilled technical role responsible for performing advanced die, color, and material change‑overs, as well as start‑up, optimization, and troubleshooting of injection molding machines. This position ensures equipment is running at peak efficiency to meet safety, quality, and production standards. The Level III technician serves as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced technicians and operators.
- Follows all safety policies and LOTO procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Sets up, adjusts, and optimizes injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and tooling for production runs.
- Performs advanced troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis for process deviations, quality issues, and equipment malfunctions.
- Monitors and fine‑tunes molding processes to ensure consistent part quality, cycle efficiency, and reduced scrap.
- Conducts mold and material changeovers, ensuring proper setup, documentation, and adherence to process standards.
- Collaborates with Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to improve process capability and implement corrective actions.
- Develops and maintains detailed process documentation, setup sheets, and parameter records.
- Uses forklift and/or overhead crane to pull, change, or set molds.
- Provides guidance and technical support to junior technicians and production staff.
- Assists in new mold trials, process validations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment following 5S and GMP principles.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Advanced mechanical aptitude and understanding of injection molding processes.
- Proficiency in process troubleshooting and optimization techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and process documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Understanding of Food Safety, GMP, PRP, HACCP, and food contact material awareness (as applicable).
- Working knowledge of decoupled molding and RJG methodology (preferred).
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. (required)
- Technical training or certification in Injection Molding Technology (preferred)
- Minimum 5‑10 years of experience in injection molding or equivalent technical field required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in start‑ups, changeovers, and process troubleshooting.
- All work is performed in a manufacturing environment which may be hot/cold and requires use of PPE at all times (e.g., eyeglasses, ear plugs where required).
- Must be able to lift and handle a minimum of 45–55 pounds.
- Must be able to perform work in a standing or sitting position as required.
- Must be able to work in tight or confined spaces.
- Forklift Certification (required; in-house training provided)
- RJG training or certification (preferred)
