Machinist 1st Shift - Chattanooga, TN / Plant 1

Role Summary

Responsible for operating machine tools to produce precision metal parts. Produces small batches or large quantities of metal parts. Ensure products meet precise specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Work from blueprints, sketches or computer-aided design (CAD), and computer-aided manufacturing (Gibbs
  
  CAM) files.
• Set up, operate, and disassemble manual, automatic, and computer‑numeric controlled (CNC) machine tools, and computer‑aided machine.
• Align, secure, and adjust cutting tools and work pieces
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines
• Turn, mill, drill, shape, and grind machine parts to specifications
• Use both manual and computer‑controlled machinery
• Measure, examine, and test completed products for defects
• Smooth the surfaces of parts or products
• Present finished work pieces to customers and make modifications if needed
• Operator crane and forklift.
• Any other duties as deemed necessary or appropriate

Knowledge and Education

• High school diploma/GED required with technical schooling preferred.
• At least 1 year machinist job‑related experience.
• Experience using lathes, milling machines, and grinders, ideally within a metal stamping facility

Key Qualifications/Requirements

• Ability to work under pressure to meet tight timelines.
• Clear understanding of Lean Principles & Tools

• Employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
• While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

• The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
