Donor Engagement Officer

General Description

The Donor Engagement Officer plays a key role in advancing Choices’ mission by cultivating meaningful relationships with donors and inspiring biblical stewardship. This position is responsible for engaging and retaining donors, growing financial support, and connecting partners to the life‑changing impact of their generosity. Primary activities include personal visits, phone calls, written communication, and event participation, supported by outreach through mailings, email, and social media.

Status: Full‑Time

Supervision: The Donor Engagement Officer will be under the supervision of the Development Director. There will be a yearly written and oral evaluation.

• Be a committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and is accountable to a local Bible‑believing church.
• Exhibit strong commitment to the sanctity of all human life.
• Be committed and live by Biblical sexual ethics, specifically, abstinence outside of marriage and fidelity within marriage.
• Agree with Choices’ Statement of Principle, Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and policies.
• Have a thorough understanding of Choices mission and a genuine passion to accomplish it.

• Availability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends as needed.

• Build, maintain, and deepen relationships with donors in an assigned portfolio, resulting in increased engagement and giving.
• Make financial requests for ministry needs, special projects, capital campaigns, and other opportunities.
• Maintain accurate donor records by promptly entering contact notes and other updates in the CRM database.
• Submit monthly activity reports to manager.
• Assist in identifying and cultivating potential major donors through research, peer introductions, and referrals.
• Contribute to grant writing efforts as requested by the Development Director.
• Represent Choices as a speaker at churches, community gatherings, and other events as requested.
• Support and participate in special events and fundraising initiatives as assigned.
• Participate in regular development team meetings to review strategies, assess results, and recommend improvements.
• Meet weekly with the Development Director to discuss progress, adjust strategies, and set goals.
• Track and submit advancement‑related expenses, mileage, invoices, and purchase orders in accordance with budget and reimbursement procedures.
• Remain accountable to achieving goals and open to coaching for improved performance.

• Attend staff meetings.
• Attend ongoing training and conferences (may require occasional travel).
• Attend Choices events and other events as needed, including nights and weekends.
• Participate in representation to churches and organizations, including nights and weekends.
• Take an active role in the organization’s network strategy, including hosting a table at the annual Choices Fundraising Banquet and fundraising with peers in the Walk for Life.
• Commit to being an active learner, staying educated about life issues and as well as professional development.
