Overview
RN, Clinical Educator - Surgery Educator Clinical Resource Coordinator is a Registered Nurse responsible for the overall education, development, and training of clinical staff through collaboration with the Clinical Administrator, Director, and Clinical Staff Leaders. The CRC conducts individual and group staff educational programs, including orientation, in services, workshops, and development of educational materials. They participate in outreach education as requested. The Coordinator provides hands-on training, evaluates competency, and performs clinical care when necessary.
The Coordinator works independently and with other health care providers. The Coordinator coordinates area-specific quality processes.
- Conduct individual and group staff educational programs, including orientation, in services, workshops, and development of educational materials.
- Provide hands-on training and evaluate competency; perform clinical care when necessary.
- Collaborate with Clinical Administrator, Director, and Clinical Staff Leaders; participate in outreach education as requested.
- Coordinate area-specific quality processes.
- Design and implement in-services and educational programs for Erlanger staff and other health care providers.
- Evaluate staff competency in collaboration with department leadership to ensure knowledge and skills meet patient care needs.
- Support Nursing Services Orientation, Nurse Residency, credentialing processes, and education/evaluation of new products.
- Required:
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing;
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (exception with CNO approval). - Preferred:
Master’s Degree in Nursing or Education.
- Required:
Three years clinical experience. - Preferred:
Five years department-specific experience; prior experience as an educator.
- Required:
Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee; BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward. Tennessee license may be single-state; non-Tennessee residents must obtain licensure within three months of hire if non-compact state. - Preferred:
Certification in area of specialty; BLS Instructor; ACLS Instructor.

The scope includes Nursing Services Orientation, Nurse Residency, annual credentialing, education and evaluation of new products, and designing and implementing in-services and educational programs for Erlanger staff and other health care providers.
The Coordinator evaluates staff competency with department leadership and educates adult learners. The Clinical Resource Coordinator interprets information to identify patient requirements relative to population-specific needs and provides care per unit policies and procedures.
