Job Summary
A licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient under the direction of an RN or provider (physician, NP, PA or other APP). This position carries out the treatments and procedures required in the outpatient departments of Erlanger Medical Group based on appropriate scope of practice and industry standards. This role is part of a team-based approach to care and is trained to coordinate care for patients, support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy, behavior change and to manage the practice's patient population.
The LPN Procedure Nurse will participate in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.
- Provide direct and/or indirect patient care under supervision as assigned.
- Coordinate care for patients and support self-management, self-efficacy, and behavior change.
- Participate in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.
- Administer pharmacological drugs as ordered and perform procedures and operate equipment necessary for patient care as assigned.
- Prepare patients, perform procedures, provide wound care, and deliver post-procedure patient care.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the patient's age and developmental level; assess data to identify age-specific needs.
Required:
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Preferred: N/A
Required:
Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills; knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations; knowledge of current trends and developments; knowledge of nursing principles applicable to areas requiring special education. Preferred:
Experience working in the outpatient setting within an office practice.
Required:
Current licensure to practice practical nursing in Tennessee. BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward. Preferred:
Certification in the area of specialty in which they are applying.
A licensed practical nurse employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient. Ability to administer pharmacological drugs as ordered, perform procedures and operate equipment necessary for patient care as assigned. The associate will be responsible for preparing the patient, performing procedures, wound care, and post-procedure patient care. The associate must demonstrate knowledge to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and must be able to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret information needed to identify age-specific needs.
This is done within the Nursing Scope of Practice as defined by unit policies and procedures.
