Job Summary

A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient.

Required:

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Preferred: BSN.

Required:

Knowledge of general nursing principles, practice skills, organizational functions and regulations, current trends, and new developments; knowledge of principles and practices of nursing applicable to specialized areas. Preferred:
Position requirements of license/certification/registration.

Required:

Current licensure to practice nursing in Tennessee. BLS must be completed prior to assignment and maintained. Unit‑specific certifications (ACLS, NIHSS) and annual training as required by area of practice (annual review day/Elseviers/EOLs). Preferred: SCRN, CCRN.

The MICU nurse must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in the MICU. The nurse must understand growth and development across the lifespan, assess data reflecting the patient’s acute or critical status, and respond appropriately. A Registered Nurse in the Medical Intensive Care Unit must be familiar with the care of acute/critical medical patients and be able to deliver care to renal, respiratory, metabolic, GI, and cardiac patients.

Responsibilities include performing procedures, administering pharmacological drugs as ordered, operating equipment, developing and evaluating care plans, and following unit policies and procedures.

Salary range: $63,000.00 – $73,000.00.
