The Surgical Services Nurse Manager ensures high quality, patient‑centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the unit/department. The Manager monitors and evaluates the provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies/procedures and holds staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives.

• Help create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence‑based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes, while ensuring adherence to standards of care.
• Demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the ages of patients served.
• Manage all staffing needs and personnel management including interviewing, hiring and training new staff members.
• Oversee care of patients on unit, providing consistent support and expertise to staff.
• Perform duties in accordance with unit specific standards of care and evidenced by completion of a competency skills check‑list.
• Maintain overall workflow of unit by ensuring proper staff levels.
• Manage and coordinate all unit activities including safety procedures, unit goals and department operations.
• Handle patient, visitor, or physician complaints promptly and in a professional manner.
• Provide leadership, coaching and counseling to department employees.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to improve patient care delivery.

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma required;
  Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Tennessee or compact state required.
• 1+ years of related clinical experience required.
• Prior related clinical leadership experience strongly preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Parkridge Medical Center is a 270+ bed hospital. We are near downtown Chattanooga. We feature comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These services include cardiovascular surgery and cancer treatment. These services include intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. The facility includes a state‑of‑the‑art neurosurgery program. Patients also have access to OB‑GYN services. Patients have access to a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

They also have access to (NICU) and behavioral health treatment centers for children and adults.
