American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Tele/Neuro unit position requiring TN or compact RN licensure and prior neurological care experience.
Details- Acute care Tele/Neuro unit with 32 beds
- Patient population includes cardiac, neurological/stroke, and seizure diagnoses
- Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 on day shift and 1:6 on night shift
- LPNs utilized on night shift and PCTs support with a ratio of 12-15 patients per tech
- Night shift schedule, 7p-7a, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend
- Self-scheduling and block scheduling available with rotational holiday coverage
- Floating required, with travelers used for on-call only as a last resort
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Virtual telemetry monitoring using GE monitors with no on-unit tele techs, nurses read their own cardiac strips
- RNs required to titrate drips such as Amiodarone, Heparin, Insulin, and Cardizem
- Respiratory equipment includes High Flow and BiPAP devices used for less than 24 hours, with RN responsibility limited to troubleshooting
- Active TN or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior neurological care experience required
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
- Provide direct patient care on a cardiac and neuro/stroke telemetry unit, including cardiac strip interpretation each shift
- Charge nurse present on every shift and typically carries a patient assignment
- Unit-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts
- Dress code requires navy blue scrubs
