The tree climber position is available for an individual with a strong work ethic who can work independently, enjoys learning new skills, and likes working outdoors. The tree climber will at all times adhere to Lumberjacks Tree Service safety guidelines, performing work according to all policies and procedures.
The Tree Climber is a skilled position responsible for tree maintenance, pruning, and removals on residential and commercial properties using ropes, truck-mounted lifts, harnesses, saddles, and other approved equipment. A climber works on the ground and in the tree canopy and must be comfortable with various motored equipment such as chainsaws, blowers, trimmers, cranes, and skid steers.
The ideal candidate is a motivated safety-minded individual that enjoys working as part of a team.
Qualifications- A valid driver’s license and available transportation, with the ability to obtain a CDL. Drivers already possessing a Class B or Class A CDL may be eligible for an immediate increase in compensation.
- Ideally, 2+ years of climbing experience.
- Be able to lift 50+ pounds.
- The ability to perform strenuous labor in all weather conditions.
- The ability to provide physical labor daily.
- Ability to tie tree industry knots.
- Demonstrates other general tree related skills during interview process.
- Is punctual, and consistently reports to work and job site locations.
- Learns, understands, and adheres to all safety rules and company safety policies.
- Understands and practices proper climbing and rigging techniques and procedures.
- Climbing trees using approved climbing equipment according to industry standards.
- Trimming, pruning, and shaping trees and shrubs according to industry standards.
- Static and dynamic cabling, bracing, bolting, and guying of trees and branches.
- Hoisting tools and equipment, lowering branches with ropes, and using blocks and tackles.
- Ties tree industry knots.
- Inspects all personal climbing and safety equipment.
- Participates in all job site safety briefings.
- Maintains attention to detail to help ensure safety standards.
- Utilizes tree and plant identification skills.
- Assists in ground personnel positioning operations when needed.
- Assess climb and tree risk by understanding tree growth dynamics and the dangers associated with electrical hazards.
- Performs general equipment inspection.
- Drives, backs, dumps, and parks vehicles, trailers, and other equipment daily.
- Maintains and organizes assigned company equipment.
- Performs general maintenance needed to operate and perform simple onsite maintenance to equipment such as cranes, skid steers, stump grinders, chainsaws, and other various tools, in a safe and responsible manner.
