PurposeThe Primary Care Sales Consultant (SC) is accountable for implementing sales strategies for an approved Cardiorenal product and will further drive launch activities for an anticipated menopause product. Responsibilities include driving demand, clinical education, and sales by developing, coordinating, and implementing a strategic business plan for Primary Care Physicians, primarily in community settings.
The position reports to the CVR Area General Manager (AGM) and will be an integral part of the Area Customer Squad, collaborating closely with Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, and other internal partners to drive US Pharma outcomes. The span of coverage will be within the Chattanooga, TN metro area, with up to 50% travel. The role is residence‑based and requires domicile within the territory.
YourTasks and Responsibilities
- Build and develop professional relationships with primary care professionals and pharmacy staff within assigned customers.
- Drive appropriate utilization of approved CV and menopause products, working closely with the Customer Squad to generate pull‑through within local payers and community HCPs.
- Leverage expertise in the diabetes and menopause marketplace, industry competitors, and cross‑functional activities to anticipate and manage business opportunities and challenges.
- Provide relevant strategic and tactical input to other commercial colleagues in regard to planning for territory, area, and region.
- Develop and implement effective customer‑specific business plans; communicate insights to internal stakeholders.
- Prioritize time and effort for optimal coverage of appropriate physician specialists based on opportunity and potential.
- Understand customers’ product and business needs and work to meet those needs while adhering to Bayer’s ethics and compliance standards.
- Anticipate barriers to achieving goals and propose responsible solutions for success.
- Handle customer objections effectively and exceed expectations with the value brought to physicians; occasionally train others in the region.
- Leverage emerging technologies to enhance performance while continuously improving proficiency.
- Understand and comply with pharmaceutical industry guidelines and regulations, applying a high ethical standard in day‑to‑day work.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 10 years of relevant sales experience in a competitive landscape.
- Proven track record of consistent high performance in a sales role or related experience.
- Proven ability to develop long‑standing relationships with customers.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, fostering an environment that promotes ethical behavior and compliance.
- Ability to comply with customer credentialing and safety requirements (e.g., vaccinations, trainings).
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Advanced degree is a plus.
- More than 5 years of pharmaceutical sales experience.
- In‑depth knowledge of cardiovascular, diabetes, and/or menopause disease states.
- Product launch experience.
- Strong analytical and computer capabilities.
- Virtual sales experience.
- Strong local relationships with HCPs and understanding of the local market.
