Fleet Services By Cox Automotive is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II
.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and more.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, air conditioning, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and more.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
  • Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate and evaluate alternatives with sound judgment.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections.
  • Collaborate with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and meet expectations.
  • Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks.
  • Document work according to company standards and upload photos of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using the TRAIT app on an iOS device.
  • Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Work with a high degree of independence and manage daily schedule.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity and operate within standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.
  • Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Maintain the service truck and conduct safety checks and daily pre-/post-trip inspections.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED and 3 years’ related experience. An equivalent combination of degree/certification or 5 years’ related experience may be considered.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT background screening and DOT physical prior to employment; this position follows FMCSA regulations.
  • Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical. If four months or less remain, a DOT physical will be required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age due to interstate operating authority.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File (DQF).
