Mechanical Design Engineer (Solid Works)

Our client is recruiting for an exciting Mechanical Design Engineer position, ideally suited for someone fairly new to the sector. As a key member, you will be responsible for producing P&IDs, layouts, and general arrangement drawings using Solid Works and AutoCAD Lite, while contributing to the development of a 3D library for standard plant items.

• Produce drawings in a timely manner and with attention to detail on behalf of the projecting team
• Develop 3D library for standard plant items
• Liaise with clients on design details – quality control/validation of manufactured designs
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings to assist fabrication including general arrangements, part drawings, developments, and templates
• Produce piping and steelwork fabrication drawings in the form of Isometrics, general arrangements, and orthographic
• Review & check detailed design drawings of piping systems, supports and steelwork in accordance with industry standards, codes and client specifications
• Prepare & check bill of materials
• Provide technical input during detailed engineering of projects
• Provide support and input into the preparation of manufacturing work packs

• Three years or more in a mechanical design capacity within industry
• Excellent working knowledge of Solid Works; accredited in CSWP/CSWE is beneficial
• A good understanding of 2D CAD packages (i.e., AutoCAD) is desirable
• Ideally experience of piping, engineering, water treatment, filtration, and tanks and vessels
• Attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a team environment
