Emergency Dispatcher – Control Room

OverviewWe are recruiting Emergency Dispatchers to join our Control Room team at the Emergency Operations Centre in Chelmsford. The role involves deploying emergency ambulance resources and supporting delivery of high clinical quality and patient care. You will communicate with operational colleagues and teams within the Control Room to ensure the most appropriate response and help is arranged.
ResponsibilitiesAs part of the Control Room team, you will:
- Deploy emergency ambulance resources across a specific geographical area in accordance with local and national performance targets and call triage categories
- Work with colleagues to coordinate resources and ensure appropriate response
- Maintain high professional standards, be resilient, and communicate effectively
- Use IT systems, multitask, and prioritise workloads to make quick decisions under pressure
- At least 2 years experience within a customer-focused environment, prioritising and managing workload in a busy, challenging, fast-paced setting
- Good awareness of equality and diversity; good geographical knowledge of the area
- Experience working as part of a team
- 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (including English) or equivalent qualification
- Understanding of Ambulance Service/NHS is desirable but training will be provided
Working a rotating shift pattern which covers days and nights, including weekends and special/public holidays.
