Our Broomfield Hospital site is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Consultant Stroke Physician to join our fantastic consultant team on a substantive basis. This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking department who are committed to excellence in acute and rehabilitation stroke and TIA services.
- Provide expert care and management for patients presenting with stroke and TIA.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver personalized treatment plans.
- Contribute to the enhancement of stroke services, aligning with regional care quality standards.
- Support community rehabilitation initiatives, ensuring seamless care transitions from hospital to home.

The components of the service which the successful applicant will help to provide are:
- The comprehensive stroke thrombolysis service, and a best‑endeavor stroke thrombectomy service
- Rapid Assessment Clinic for TIA/minor stroke patients held five days a week where 20‑25 suspected new stroke/TIA patients are seen per week. There is also a service for high‑risk TIA patients at weekends and bank holidays. The seven‑day a week service includes same‑day CT or MRI scan and Carotid Doppler. We are currently achieving our performance targets for high‑risk and low‑risk patients and looking to adapt this service in view of the latest RCP guidelines.
- Currently, 7 days/week there is 9:00 am consultant‑led multidisciplinary ward round for all new suspected stroke/TIA admissions and a daily review of all other patients on Stroke Unit
- Multidisciplinary rehabilitation of stroke patients on the stroke ward including meetings with relatives
- Weekly outpatient clinics providing for new referrals and medical follow‑up for recently discharged stroke patients and other patients
- Strong links with diagnostic imaging, vascular surgery, cardiology and neurology.
- On‑going educational programme for all disciplines within the department and lectures to GPs and other interested groups.

Person Specification Qualifications- MBBS
- Entry on GMC Specialist Register
- Evidence of completion of specialist training or equivalent
- Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in the specialty.
- Able to take full and independent responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision.
- Knowledge and experience of supervising undergraduates, junior doctors and other staff
