About the role:

Be part of something ambitious. Help every child thrive

Bridge Academy Trust (BAT) is seeking to appoint two Assistant Educational Psychologists to join our expanding Inclusion offer. This is a rare opportunity to gain broad, purposeful experience across a family of highly collaborative schools that place inclusion, belonging and opportunity at the heart of everything they do. Working across primary, secondary and specialist resource base provision, you will play a key role in helping children and young people overcome barriers, develop confidence and achieve success.

You will contribute to the development of an innovative Trust wide model of psychological support, working alongside passionate and experienced school leaders. This is a genuine step towards doctoral training as an Educational Psychologist.

You will work under the professional supervision of a qualified Educational Psychologist, with dedicated CPD and supervision arrangements provided by Essex County Council, giving you the structure and support of a Local Authority EP service alongside the pace and variety of a multi-academy trust.

  • Breadth of experience across primary, secondary and specialist resource base provision — rare for an Assistant EP post.
  • The opportunity to work alongside an exceptional network of experienced SENDCos and inclusion leaders.
  • Professional supervision and CPD provided by Essex County Council, alongside day-to-day support from the Trust.
  • A genuinely varied caseload: early intervention work, EHCNA-related assessment, small group intervention, and staff training.
  • The chance to help shape a Trust-wide model of psychological support from the ground up, working closely with school leaders and SENDCos.
  • A supportive, ambitious Trust with a strong track record of school improvement and inclusive practice.

You will be deployed flexibly across BAT's schools rather than fixed to a single site, working alongside qualified Educational Psychologists to:

  • Carry out targeted individual observation, advice and guidance to support in-school provision ahead of an Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA).
  • Undertake individual observation and write-up to support the EHCNA process, feeding into EP psychological advice.
  • Deliver small group intervention work directly with pupils.
  • Contribute to staff training on specific areas of development, such as adaptive teaching strategies for identified pupils or groups and to the development of evidence-based, best practice for inclusive provision.

About you:

  • A psychology degree (2:1 or above), an approved conversion course, or a Master's degree, AND eligibility for British Psychological Society (BPS) Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC).
  • Experience of working with children and young people in an education, care or family-oriented setting.
  • A genuine commitment to applying psychology to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with high personal and professional integrity.
  • A self-driven, reflective approach, with the confidence to work autonomously and know when to seek support.

Bridge Academy Trust may close this advert early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications.

This Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointments will be subject to DBS clearance and satisfactory references. If successful, an enhanced DBS check would be sought.

Bridge Academy Trust welcomes applications from those of all backgrounds, faiths and ethnic groups.
