Quantity Surveyor
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team on-site in Chelmsford. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial and commercial success of our 400kV substation project, delivered under NEC 4 Option
C. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a high-value infrastructure project, ensuring cost control, contract management, and overall commercial success.
- Monitor and control project costs to ensure the project is delivered within budget.
- Prepare and review cost forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Validate and manage subcontractor and supplier payments.
- Administer the NEC 4 Option C contract, ensuring compliance with all terms and conditions.
- Manage Compensation Events (CEs) and variations, ensuring timely submissions and agreement.
- Work closely with the Project Manager to maintain accurate and comprehensive project records.
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate commercial risks.
- Assist in value engineering to optimize project performance and reduce unnecessary costs.
- Provide regular financial reports, including cost‑value reconciliations (CVRs) and forecasts.
- Present financial performance and risk updates to stakeholders.
- Liaise with the client, subcontractors, and internal teams to maintain strong relationships.
- Support the procurement team in evaluating and appointing subcontractors.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on large‑scale construction or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of NEC 4 contracts, particularly Option
C. - Excellent financial management and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., CEMAR, MS Excel, or similar tools).
- Experience on power infrastructure or substation projects.
- Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
