AboutThe Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Water Quality Risk Coordinator to join our busy Water Quality team within the Essex & Suffolk Water region. This is a key role within the team, where you’ll play a vital part in protecting and enhancing water quality across the business.
In this position, you will take ownership of developing and maintaining our water quality risk database, known within the industry as Drinking Water Safety Plans. You’ll identify emerging risks and hazards, carry out risk assessments, interpret data, and work collaboratively with teams across Water Supply, Water Resources, Water Networks and Service Planning to agree and drive forward improvement plans.
You’ll also be responsible for sharing and communicating new legislation, producing clear and concise reports for both NWG and the Drinking Water Inspectorate, and confidently challenging where necessary to ensure the best possible water quality outcomes are achieved. Working closely with our IS team, you will oversee the ongoing development and optimisation of the risk database, ensuring it continues to meet both internal requirements and regulatory expectations.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about water quality, enjoys working collaboratively, and is motivated to make a real impact.
About YouWe’re looking for a highly motivated individual who is confident working both independently and as part of a collaborative team. This role will involve working across multiple sites within the Northumbrian and Essex & Suffolk regions, so a willingness to travel is essential.
You’ll bring creativity and sound judgement, with the ability to make decisions and deliver accurate results within set deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills are key, as you’ll be engaging with a wide range of internal stakeholders as well as external regulators, building effective working relationships along the way.
You’ll be comfortable using IT systems and ideally have some knowledge of water supply systems. A full UK driving licence is required, along with a degree in a science‑based discipline. If you are proactive, detail‑focused, and passionate about making a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
