I am recruiting for a Project Engineer to join the Estates team at an NHS Trust in Essex on a contract basis.
Contract Details:
- Location:
Essex, on site - Rate: 250 to 300 per day, Outside IR35
- Working pattern:
Full time, on site
The role
Reporting into the Estates leadership team, you will lead the delivery of estates capital and minor works projects across the hospital site, taking a scheme from brief through design, procurement and construction to handover. Working across mechanical, electrical and building disciplines, you'll act as the technical lead on your projects, managing contractors and consultants and keeping delivery safe, compliant and on programme in a live acute healthcare environment.
Key responsibilities
- Manage estates capital and minor works projects from inception through to completion and handover
- Provide technical engineering advice and scrutiny across mechanical, electrical and building services elements of schemes
- Prepare and review scopes, specifications, tender documentation and technical drawings
- Manage contractors, consultants and specialist suppliers on site, monitoring quality, programme and cost
- Ensure all works are delivered in line with HTMs, HBNs, statutory compliance and safe systems of work
- Coordinate with the operational estates team and clinical stakeholders to minimise disruption to services
- Manage project budgets and reporting, and support the wider capital and backlog programme
- Ensure permits to work, RAMS and handover documentation (O&M, as-builts) are complete and compliant
What we're looking for
- Engineering background (mechanical, electrical or building services), ONC/HNC/degree or equivalent
- Proven experience delivering estates or capital projects within a healthcare/NHS estate or a comparably complex live environment
- Strong working knowledge of HTMs, HBNs, statutory compliance and CDM
- Confident managing contractors, consultants and multi-disciplinary works on an occupied site
- Comfortable owning project documentation, programme and budget
