Emergency Dispatcher - Chelmsford

GO Airport Shuttle & Executive Car is recruiting an Emergency Dispatcher to join our Control Room team at our Emergency Operations Centre in Chelmsford.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the deployment of emergency ambulance resources and support the delivery of a high level of clinical quality and the best possible patient care. You will communicate with operational colleagues and teams within the Control Room to ensure the most appropriate emergency ambulance response and help is arranged. This role follows a relief rota and involves rotating shift patterns covering days, nights, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Deploy emergency ambulance resources across a specific geographical area in accordance with local and national performance targets and call triage categories.
  • Communicate with operational colleagues and teams within the Control Room to ensure the most appropriate emergency ambulance response and help is arranged.
  • Work within a wider control room team to provide high clinical quality and best possible patient care.
  • Manage shift patterns, including days, nights, weekends and public holidays, under a relief rota.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a customer‑focused environment, prioritising and managing workload in a busy, challenging, fast‑paced setting.
  • Five GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent), including English.
  • Resilient, professional, good communication skills, and an ability to work well within teams.
  • IT literate with experience using computerised systems, and the ability to multi‑task, remain calm and prioritise workloads under pressure.
  • Good geographical knowledge of the area and awareness of equality and diversity.
  • Understanding of the Ambulance Service/NHS is beneficial; robust training, mentoring and support package will be provided.
