Job SummaryThe Cellular Pathology team at Broomfield Hospital processes about 30,000 specimens per year, specialising in Breast, Head & Neck, upper GI and lymphoma work. The department is fully IBMS‑trained, linked with Essex University and is working towards UKAS accreditation. This role may close early due to the high number of applicants.
Main Duties- Work as part of a team to provide a high‑quality, cost‑effective and timely histology service.
- Process histology specimens in accordance with policies and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in all aspects of the histology department, maintaining a high technical standard and meeting patient care deadlines.
- Assist in specimen cut‑up, selecting tissues for further processing.
- Maintain appropriate stocks of consumables and reagents.
- Contribute to the development of new methodologies to improve the service or support research.
- Adhere to established policies, codes of practice and internal quality procedures, including participation in EQA.
- Maintain registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and comply with IBMS and HCPC codes of practice.

Person Specification Essential- BSc in Biomedical Sciences;
State registered BMS with HCPC. - Technical expertise to carry out practical procedures; meticulous and dexterous.
- Broad experience in all aspects of histology.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently; thorough, tidy and able to meet deadlines.
- Registration portfolio.
- Continuing Professional Development; maintenance of HCPC competence.
- Versatile and willing to undertake any task as required; prioritising skills; works well under pressure.
