At HCRG Care Group, in partnership with the NHS, Essex County Council, and Barnardos, we proudly deliver the Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service; a trusted, free-to-access service designed to give every child, young person, and family in Essex the best possible start in life.

Our service brings together a dedicated team delivering Children's Community Specialist Health Services, including Community Nursing, Children's Therapies, and Community Paediatrics. From the antenatal stage through to age 19 (or 25 for young people with Special Educational Needs), we work in homes, schools, Family Hubs, and community delivery sites to ensure care is accessible, compassionate, and impactful.

We are for the community, with the community, and in the community; empowering families, improving wellbeing, and promoting healthy futures across Essex.

As a Family Wellbeing Nurse, you'll be joining a passionate, multidisciplinary team recently rated Good by the CQC; committed to clinical excellence, partnership working, and real community impact.

Main duties of the job

As a Family Wellbeing Nurse, you'll be an integral part of our Healthy Family Team, working collaboratively with Health Visitors, School Nurses, and Family Support Practitioners to deliver the Healthy Child Programme across the community.

Your role will be varied and rewarding; each day you'll make a genuine difference by:

  • Supporting children, young people, and families to reach their full potential through personalised care and evidence-based interventions.
  • Assessing health and development needs, creating, implementing, and evaluating individual care plans in partnership with families.
  • Acting as a role model and mentor, supporting colleagues, students, and new starters through guidance, supervision, and preceptorship.
  • Participating in early help and safeguarding initiatives, ensuring the wellbeing and protection of vulnerable children.
  • Leading or contributing to parent education groups on topics such as child development, managing common illnesses, and promoting healthy lifestyles.
  • Benefiting from regular safeguarding supervision and ongoing professional development, supported by our dedicated Practice Education Team.
About us

As a Band 5 Family Wellbeing Nurse, you will be part of our valued team in Essex, receiving access to exclusive rewards and benefits including:

  • Band 5 Agenda for Change salary and terms and conditions, including an NHS pension
  • Free tea, coffee and milk at your base location
  • Membership of My Reward Hub, giving you access to discounts on everyday purchases like grocery shopping as well as cashback and voucher offers for treats for you and those special to you
  • Access to your wages as you earn them to help cover life's emergencies and avoid overdraft fees or high interest rates
  • Online and face to face help with your mental and physical wellbeing from healthy recipes and activity challenges through to post trauma support, legal, debt and life management help, as well career coaching and counselling
  • Access to eLearning, bespoke career pathways and opportunities for continuing professional development through our Outstanding learning and development team, The Learning Enterprise
  • An open, just culture where you're encouraged to have and implement ideas which can help us deliver our purpose: changing lives through transforming health and care backed up by at least £100,000 of ring fenced innovation funding each year
  • The pride of working for an organisation committed to the highest clinical and quality standards: with the majority of our rated services holding good or outstanding ratings from the Care Quality Commission

We're committed to equal opportunities and welcome applications from a broad, diverse range of people who want to join our team. We're a Disability Confident Committed company, so we work to provide facilities, work environment adjustments and technical solutions to be as inclusive of everyone.
