Quality Manager – Manufacturing

Location:

Chelmsford, Essex
Salary: £50,000 + Benefits
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

We are a specialist recruitment agency currently supporting a well-established manufacturing business in Chelmsford with the appointment of an experienced Quality Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organisation with a strong reputation for engineering excellence, product quality, and continuous improvement.

The Role

As Quality Manager, you will take full ownership of the site Quality Management System and lead the quality function across the business. You will work closely with production, engineering, supply chain, and senior leadership to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and drive a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other relevant industry standards
  • Manage internal and external audits, including customer and third-party audits
  • Oversee supplier quality performance and implement corrective actions
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action processes (CAPA)
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean / Six Sigma methodologies
  • Manage and develop the quality team
  • Report on quality KPIs to senior management
About You
  • Proven experience as a Quality Manager within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and audit processes
  • Experience leading audits and managing customer quality requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement and reduce non-conformance
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline preferred
