This role is for someone who already operates in the market, builds relationships early, and secures work as contracts naturally come to an end.
We are a growing Mechanical & Electrical contractor based in Chelmsford, delivering full M&E Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) services to end-user clients across the South East.
We are seeking an experienced PPM Sales professional with an established M&E maintenance network who understands how long-term maintenance contracts are genuinely won.
This is a high-trust, high-accountability role.
You will manage your own diary and territory, with the expectation that approximately 4 days per week will be spent meeting clients and developing relationships on-site.
One day per week will be spent working from the Chelmsford office. We do not micromanage. We expect professionalism, visibility, and results.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Winning new full M&E PPM contracts (approximately 80% of your time)
- Retaining and growing existing PPM clients (approximately 20%)
- Leveraging your existing relationships with end-user decision-makers
- Meeting clients on site and carrying out initial surveys and information gathering
- Providing the office with accurate, complete information to enable precise pricing
- Managing the front end of the sale through to contract award
- Handing over sold contracts cleanly to the operations team
- Your existing M&E PPM relationships

What Success Looks Like
This role reflects the reality of M&E PPM contract cycles.
- Year 1
- Build a strong, qualified pipeline of end-user prospects
- Secure new PPM contracts covering at least twice your base salary
- Establish trusted relationships ahead of contract expiry dates
- Year 2
- Convert pipeline opportunities as clients exit existing contracts
- Generate PPM revenue covering a minimum of five times base salary
- Demonstrate consistent, relationship-led wins across the South East

- Is comfortable being field-based, with one day per week in the Chelmsford office
- Has no conflicting personal or external commitments that interfere with availability, focus, or responsiveness
- You rely on cold calling to generate leads
- You do not already sell M&E PPM contracts
- You prefer short-term, high-pressure sales environments
- You avoid site visits or technical discussions
- You require heavy supervision or low accountability
Additional Information / Benefits

- £45,000 – £65,000 base salary, NEGOTIABLE depending on experience and network
- 5% commission on first-year PPM revenue, paid quarterly once contracts are live
